Our story
Nuvanta Foundation started with one question asked in a classroom in 2022. Why do the same girls miss the same week of school every month? The answer turned out to be simple and nobody had said it out loud. Not one of them had been told what was happening to her before it happened.
What changed the direction was the second visit. We went back expecting to repeat the same session and found the girls waiting with questions that had very little to do with periods. About pregnancy, about pressure from older boys, about what a nurse would say if they walked into a clinic alone. The programmes grew out of those questions rather than out of a plan, which is exactly why they sit where they do today.
We now run four programmes alongside schools, clinics and community leaders across several districts. We are not trying to become large. We are trying to be the organisation still turning up in the third year, in the places that are used to being visited once.
How we work
Four things we hold to
These are the rules the programmes are built on, and the ones we expect to be held to.
Invited, not imposed
We work where a school, clinic or community leader asked us to. Need identified from a distance is usually the wrong need.
Past the photograph
A single session changes very little. Every programme includes a return visit, and the second visit is where the real questions arrive.
Dignity first
How help arrives matters as much as whether it arrives. Nobody should have to perform hardship to receive it.
Honest reporting
We publish what worked and what did not. Anything else makes the good numbers meaningless.

The team
A small team, most of whom started out as volunteers. Between them they run the programmes, keep the partnerships honest, and answer the phone when a head teacher calls.
